Neither film is automatically better. The correct choice depends on the pallet, wrapping method and application.
Stretch wrap thickness is commonly measured in either Gauge (Imperial) or Micron (Metric). While these numbers provide a technical measurement of the film's physical depth, gauge alone does not dictate the strength or performance of the wrap.
Thicker film does not automatically mean better performance. Modern high-performance films are often thinner but engineered with advanced resins to provide superior load containment compared to traditional thick-gauge films.
